Poppels DIPA

Double India Pale Ale

A modern beer style created by American microbreweries in the 1990s. Brewed with a “bigger is better” mentality, both malt and hop quantities are amped up considerably compared to more traditional IPAs. In a good Double IPA the strong hoppy overtones should always be balanced by a full-bodied malt body.

Our Double India Pale Ale gets its larger-than-life character from an abundant amount of zingy American hops which manage to find a sense of harmony with six different kinds of malt.

I have worked a lot with the malts to find a good balance for the hops. In spite of its strong character this beer leaves the impression of a beautifully balanced drink.

Poppels Russian Imperial Stout

A Russian Imperial Stout is simply a stout with extra everything! Despite what the name suggests the beer was first brewed in 19th century England for export to the Russian court.

Our interpretation of this style is a brooding beer with a thick body and generous tones of liquorice, coffee and chocolate. A robust and complex beer best enjoyed in moderate amounts.

Here no less than seven kinds of malt coexist in one delicious beer. The most notable perhaps are the roasted grains (roasted coffee beans), chocolate malt (which add a deep chocolate undertone) and black malt (which give burnt hints).
