Tuatara Kapai

Aotearoa Pale Ale

Back in the day, our US supply of APA hops went up in smoke, literally. So rather than inciting a riot, we turned to some home grown cones as a temporary fix. The result? The evolution of a new style, an Aotearoa Pale Ale to rival its American counterpart. With citrus flavours and full hop finish, the result was Kapai – which means, it’s all good.

Embracing the 100% kiwiness of our Aotearoa Pale Ale, we have recently renamed this brew as kAPAi, encapsulating the true character of the beer.

Taste: Citrus, grapefruit and herb flavours with a fresh hop finish.

Aroma: Tropical fruits and orange marmalade.

Look: Golden amber to copper.

Tuatara Tu Rye Ay

Midnight Rye IPA

Like the lyrics to Dexys’ famous song, rye refuses to be forgotten. 2016 sees the return of this limited edition brew. Plenty to sing and hop to, we’ve taken a classic American pale ale and added some backing singers to create a beer with a darkly roasted, robust body. Rich chocolate and caramel malts mixed with spicy rye and Amarillo hops. You’ve grown, so grown.

Taste: Spicy rye notes with a brooding full flavoured dark malt base are balanced with fruity American hops adding citrus character and lingering bitterness. Unfiltered and made to last.

Look: Black with a deep red hue and a light tan collar of foam.

Aroma: Rich dark malt, spicy rye malt and US citric hop aroma.
