Oppigårds Thurbo Stout

Thurbo is the old spelling of our rural industrial center. Nowadays it’s spelled Turbo. In Thurbo there were a sulphite factory and sawmill until 1970. Before that there were also some foundries and power plants. We wish that the name Thurbo will connect with local history as industrial center and also point out that our beers in the Thurbo series are a bit stronger than the rest of our range of beers. The beer is brewed with oatmeal and smoked malt. The smoked malt as flavor is present but not overpowering giving the beer a little more complexity. This beer is hopped with a single early hop addition. We think that this stout tastes best between 15-18 degrees celsius. This beer is unfiltered and may contain residual yeast.

Food pairings: This is a really great beer for the dessert! Bake a moderately bitter French chocolate cake with good chocolate and enjoy with Thurbo Stout. Some things are just made for each other.

Passion Pale Ale

A Pale Ale brewed mainly using light malt to give it a brighter colour compared to many other beers.

Our interpretation is a pretty looking Pale Ale of lighter character since we have chosen to increase the tropical tones from the hops by adding passion fruit – which is unmistakably clear in both the smell and taste!

Using fruit as a catalyst to increase the complexity of tropical aromas and flavors is an exciting way to explore the boundaries of a Pale Ale. To find the balance between the tropical fruit tones and malts has been a fascinating journey!
