A lager destined for can, this is a traditional beer style that is usually served direct from the barrel in the beer gardens of Munich. Effectively the style comes from a time before the wonders of refrigeration and was thus cellared (keller!) in
during the cooler months of the year. Ours is less cave and more... refrigeration but none the less, the beer is stored in casks, breathing away and as such, has a much lower carbonation, as with theirs. For our canning run, weve then given it a little more carb but we have kept it moderately low end for a nice soft pétillant nudge. Weve also kept our recipe nice and simple, with a small amount of Munich malt to bring malty bite to the beer paired with Mandarina Bavaria hops to bring notes of mandarins and melons. VISUAL: Light straw, with a big foamy head. Slight powdery haze expected AROMA: Notes of honeydew and cantaloupe melons as well as mandarin zest all pop out of the glass alongside those classic lager bready notes. TASTE: Sourdough bread maltiness with a refreshing citrus zip at the end MOUTHFEEL: Medium Body, w, initial bitter bite quickly tempered by a fruity honeyed sweetness
