Chimay Blauw of Chimay Blue is een zwaar donker bier met 9% alcohol. Dit trappistenbier is een winterbier, een bier om je op koude vriesdagen lekker warm te houden. Chimay Blauw is heerlijk in combinatie met een blokje kaas, zeker met de trappistenkaas van Chimay zelf.
Chimay Blauw is een heerlijk authentiek Belgisch trappistenbier met een donkere kleur. Het bier kan jarenlang bewaard blijven en in de loop der jaren word de smaak en geur nog beter. Met een alcoholpercentage van 9% is het een zwaar bier en heeft een aroma van fijne kruiden. De afdronk is redelijk droog en heeft een toets van karamel.

Chimay ist bei weitem das international bekannteste Trappistenbier geworden. Grande Réserve, ein Jahrgangsbier, ist mit 9% vol Alkohol das stärkste Bier des Klosters. Es ist sehr würzig und erlangt nach 5 Jahren portweinähnliche Noten. Um sein volles Aroma zu entfalten, trinkt man dieses Bier bei ca 12 Grad aus einem kelchähnlichen Glas. Normalerweise trinkt man Bier bei 8 - 9 Grad. Chimay wird immer nach dem deutschen Reinheitsgebot gebraut.
