Coming together with Geoi & the Dark Horse Coffee Roasters team for the fourth time to imagine & construct a blend of elegantly barrel-aged beers that celebrates another passing year of a San Diego craft beer stalwart – is truly something special.

With each blend, our primary task is to present complexity driven by spirit and wine-based barrels, while harmoniously layering hand-selected coffees in order to end at a place of elegance & pleasure.

TapRoom Beer Co. A Bine A Dozen is built upon a blend of 2 base beers; Russian Imperial Stout & American-ish Barleywine – aged in a group of Elijah Craig, Woodford Reserve Double Oak, & Tawny Port barrels. Consisting of the blend we see approximately 40% Elijah Craig Imperial Stout, 32.60% Woodford Double Oaked American-ish Barleywine, and 27.4% Tawny Port Imperial Stout.

To finish, we sat with the Dark Horse Coffee Roaster crew to sample a dozen coffees of varying roast profiles, processing types, and origin to build an integrated coffee profile that highlights different subtleties in the blended beer. We settled on a 70/30 blend of Haru Welabu Guji Ethiopia, an anaerobic natural grown between 2000 – 2300 MASL + a super secret dark roast blend custom made for us.
