A Pleasant Tomb is an 8.4% Scottish stock pale ale brewed with Pilsner malt and generously hopped with Mandarina Bavaria from Locher Hopfen in Tettnang, renowned masters of German hops. This crisp beer undergoes open fermentation at a warm temperature,
fruity esters before being aged in oak with more whole flower hops for a touch of deep funk and vibrant hop expression.
Pouring a golden hue with a richly foamed head, it offers aromas of stewed clementine, ripe mango, and passion fruit. On the palate, expect a balance of dryness, softness, bitterness, and a flutter of refreshing acidity.
The beer takes its name from a Baudelaire poem in which a bottle of booze sings:
For I feel a boundless joy when I flow
Down the throat of a man worn out by his labor;
His warm breast is a pleasant tomb
Where Im much happier than in my cold cellar.
