Chocolate, liquorice and brown sugar notes contrast with pine and citrus hops in this American-inspired black IPA. Brewed with lactose for a creamy body and slight sweet tang, Black Maria is fresh and sharp while maintaining a robust roasty character. To Øl were high school students of Mikkeller and started brewing using the schools kitchen after bemoaning the state of Danish beer "most Danish breweries [scramble] to describe how their beers had been brewed for over 100 years...as if a stale lager ever has become less nauseous by the fact that it has been brewed for over 100 years!"  They brew outstanding, uncompromising, contemporary beer and are mighty proud to be gypsy brewers.
