About The Beer The brewing traditions of Belgium are without doubt the most idiosyncratic in the world. Many of these traditions are ancient and it is a point of national pride that the Belgians have kept them alive to this day. Yeast is perhaps
most defining aspect of Belgian beer, often imparting uniquely spicy, fruity and complex flavours. They are also traditionally bottle conditioned, meaning the beers are alive and ever changing in flavour. Many have an evolution of flavour that can span years, but some can even span decades. This seventeenth edition of our Best of Belgium pack contains some of the most famous Belgian breweries that have all influenced thousands of brewers around the world.
Heres the line-up:
1. De La Senne Bruxellensis Brett Pale Ale 330ml Bottle
Here it is!! Our latest baby, of which we are very proud: the BRUXELLENSIS, 4 months bottle refermented with 100% Brussels Brettanomyces yeast. Amber colored with copper reflections, very fruity (pineapple and red fruits), sustained by hop flavors and complex notes of old leather. In spite of its 6,5%, its dry and bitter finish makes it a surprising thirst-quencher. ABV 6.5%
2. Rodenbach Grand Cru Flanders Red Ale 330ml Bottle
This is an aged Belgian red ale, which is ‘ripened quietly in oak barrels for two years’, according to the label. It has an extremely pungent aroma of rich grapey fruit, with acidic notes, very much like a slightly sour red wine or possibly a gueuze. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, extremely acidic and fruity, with grapes and even cherries discernible, and very lively. Despite the sweetness it is not at all cloying, even thin, with little or no trace of malt. Finish is sharp and fruity . ABV 6%
3. Silly Saison 330ml Bottle
A unique, light taste offering, at the same time, subtle touches of sweets and fruit. A refreshing beer that calls out for another one. Created in Silly in 1850 and can be considered as the original Saison. This beer has been created in the farmhouse brewery during the winter and served to the seasonal workers doing the harvest in the summer. Its dark colour is due to the fact that initially in 1850, the barley was malted in the farm and it was always producing dark malt grains. Its taste is remarkable, light and favourably combined to offer a tone that is both modestly sweetened and fruity, leaving the mouth with a refreshing feel as is constantly asked of it. ABV 5%
4. De Graal Dubbel 330ml Bottle
A brown-red ale with the aroma of cake, raisin and a touch of spice. The flavor starts off with the aforementioned raisins, and then moves on to a light chocolate and brown malt taste with a leafy hop and anise finish. The body is medium to light. ABV 6.5%
5. De Ranke Simplex Belgian Pale Ale 330ml Bottle
Colour and appearance: red amber, very dense fine white head. Fragrance: spicy, citrus, grapefruit, a hint of caramel in the nose. Flavour: full-bodied, intense and a touch of caramel. Together with the spicy, citrus-Simplex is an ale, but it has all the characteristics of an old-styled pils. It is a blond beer, both thirst-quenching and bitter. ABV 4.5%
6. Waterloo Triple 330ml Bottle
The triple blond is both simple and complex. Its initial simplicity, with an easy approach that releases a sweet zest is quickly complemented by a bitterness that runs to the back of the mouth. Complex, with its raw ingredients clashing a little like cannon shots, but each tastier than the last, with alternating bitter hops and the flexibility of its malt, gives this Waterloo beer the taste of victory. ABV 8%
7. Lupulus Blonde Tripel 330ml Bottle
Lupulus is a blonde ale with an alcohol proof of 8,5 %, refermented in champagne bottles and in casks. The choice not to filter the beer, as well as not to pasteurize it ensures its taste and aromatic quality. The use of hops in considerable quantities, gives this liquid gold a freshness and an incomparable bouquet. Store this beer, as it ought to be, next to your beloved Grand-Cru and serve at a temperature between 8 and 12°C (46,4 and 53,6°F). Youll be delighted! ABV 8.5%

Seef beer is an historical Belgian cloudy blond beer from Antwerp. It dates back to the 17th century (and is probably even older), making it one of the oldest existing beers of Belgium. It was the most popular beer of the Antwerp region, so popular that a part of Antwerp was even named after the beer. (Seefhoek) With the disappearance of the smaller craft breweries (due to big industrial competition and WWI), the beer and the recipe were lost. After a search that took over 3 years, the recipe was recovered, and rebrewed using the original ingredients barley, wheat, oats and buckwheat, Belgian Hops and historic yeast. The Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie was formed to relaunch this legendary beer.
Since its relaunch, Seefbier, with its accessible yet distinctive taste and aroma, has won the harts of many beer lovers, and has become one of the most rewarded Belgian Beers of the last years, with 7 times the title of Worlds Best or Gold on different international beer competitions, including World Beer Cup, World Beer Awards (3X in a row), Brussels Beer Challenge and Global Craft Beer Awards. The beer is recognized as official beer of the city of Antwerp, and as historical regional product (streekproduct). Brewed in the center of the city by the Antwerpse Brouw Compagnie. ABV 6.5%
11. Leffe Brune 330ml Bottle
Dinant, 1240. In the heart of the Leffe district lies an abbey well-known among the village locals. One morning, the Premonstratensian Fathers that live in the abbey hold a meeting in the refectory on a subject that concerns all the inhabitants of Dinant: how can they avoid the epidemics that spread through contaminated water? After giving the subject some serious thought, the monks come to the idea to purify the water through a process they knew only too well: by turning it into beer. Before long, the inhabitants of Dinant have the pleasure of discovering a deep, dark brown beer, and thousands of pilgrims passing through are more than happy to sample the monks’ hospitality. Leffe Brown was born. “Leffe Brown’s soft, deep brown colour and the perfect balance between a discreetly bitter yet slightly caramelised taste can be ascribed to age-old traditions. Hints of coffee and chocolate provide this beer with an even more desirable flavour. Served in a Leffe chalice, the smooth, creamy beer head, the roasted aromas and the spiced flavour have the ability to suspend time. ABV 6.5%
12. Hoegaarden Wit Blanche 330ml Bottle
500 years of hard work went into making this beer that features the aroma of orange peel, coriander and herbs that the merry monks imported from sunny Curacao. Speaking of which: pouring Hoegaarden is just like letting the sun fall into your glass: light yellow and naturally murky. And the soft foam adds a cloudy finish. And then there’s the soft taste, light and slightly sweet and sour and with subtle citrus notes… ah, just go ahead and taste it instead of reading about it! ABV 4.9% -
