Piwo Orval to piwo górnej fermentacji. Proces starzenia dodaje nutę owocową, która zapewnia subtelną równowagę między pełnym, ale złożonym smakiem piwa a goryczką.
Piwo zostało po raz pierwszy uwarzone w 1931 roku i zawdzięcza swój niezrównany smak jakości wody, chmielu i użytych drożdży. Browar wyselekcjonował bardzo aromatyczne i niepowtarzalne odmiany chmielu, które nawiązują do pierwszego piwowara z Orvalu, pochodzącego z Bawarii. Aromaty piwa są bardzo wyraźne przy zachowaniu odpowiedniego poziomu goryczki dzięki angielskiej metodzie chmielenia na sucho.

Lo que tiene de especial la cerveza Orval es que el lúpulo se agrega en dos etapas diferentes del proceso de producción. Primero, en la sala de elaboración de cerveza, se agrega una gran cantidad de lúpulos muy finos, esto produce el famoso sabor amargo y es la razón por la cual la cerveza se conserva por un período de tiempo más largo. Posteriormente, en las bodegas, se vuelve a añadir lúpulo. Este es el llamado “dry hopping” británico, que produce un delicioso aroma que cautiva por completo incluso al degustador más cuidadosamente advertido.

In 2014, 71,000 hectolitres (approx. 1,875,604 gallons) of Orval beer was produced in the Orval monastery by the monks. As with other Trappist beers, only natural ingredients are used – namely spring water, two-row malting spring barley, aromatic hops and liquid candy sugar. The skittle-shaped bottle helps the sediment to stay at the bottom, however it can also be drunk and is full of vitamin B.

Orval (Bottled 07/07/2021). The Orval’s brewery produces only one beer to sell, a beer with a high fermentation that continues in the bottle. It is 6.2% ABV. This beer is brewed exclusively from spring water, barley malt, hop cones, candy sugar, and yeast. The aroma and the fine taste are due more to the hop cones and the yeast than to the malt that is used. What’s special about Orval’s beer is that hops are added at two different stages of the production process. First, in the brewing room, a large quantity of very fine hops are added – this produces the famous bitter taste and is the reason why the beer keeps for a longer period of time. Later, in the storage cellars, hops are once again added. This is the so-called British “dry hopping,” which produces the delightful aroma that completely enraptures even the most carefully forewarned taster. In the tasting room, Orval’s beer and cheese make a really good pair: the unique shape of the bottle and the glass, the design of the label, the coasters and other publicity materials – it’s all a legacy from the early 1930’s.
