Living Häus Beer Co. Nate North Park IPA

A couple months ago our pal Jeff Alworth came by and was asking when we were going to make a San Diego IPA, given that Mat is from there. We had two thoughts come to mind when thinking about San Diego beer. First was our favorite IPA brewer in town, North Park Beer Co. The second thought was what San Diego beer is in general. We immediately jumped on a phone call with Kelsey, one of the most curious and forward thinking hoppy brewers in San Diego to figure out the first question.

What we feel it comes down to is this: Knowing your ingredients, focused processes, and constant sensory with your team. These are the benchmarks of flat out making good beer, San Diego IPA or whatever it may be. In the case of San Diego IPA, those choices should lead to an over the top fruit aroma, deep hop saturation in each sip, and a simple malt backbone that lets the hops shine.

As for the second thought on what San Diego beer is, we couldn’t help but think of Nate Soroko and the Toronado SD brunches he curated and hosted with Ian and the Toronado team. Through that community he helped build one of the strongest networks of brewers and chefs in the country. His acceptance and sometimes forced introductions of all people throughout the beer and culinary worlds along with his genuine support and generosity is what the term collaboration means to us.

Nate loved sharing what his friends were creating, whether it be a new brewery no one had heard of, a classic beer you ought to know, the fanciest dish made from something you also had never heard of, or the simplest home cooked meal. He did that all through a little craft beer bar in North Park, San Diego, the Toronado. And all of that is what San Diego beer means to us.

So with that we present Living Häus Beer Co. Nate, our PNW-brewed homage to San Diego. A North Park style IPA brewed with high quality pilsner malt and too many hop varieties to list. Kind of like the brunches, just know that all your old friends are there along with a few new ones.
