We have never been afraid to showcase experimental hop varieties here at Garage and HBC586 has been a variety that we have been tracking for some time. It has been getting a lot of positive reviews stateside and we were able to get our hands on enough of it to make a big, bold IPA. At 7% it is at the higher end of the ABV range for hazy IPA but we wanted to pack in as much soft malt body to provide a pillowy base for this exciting fruity hop. It displays an interesting range of tropical flavours such as guava, lychee, orange, melon and a slight herbal almost green tea like note that adds complexity. Paired with a lower dosing of Citra to bring in more stone fruit, peachy goodness, this juicy number will likely only be brewed once this year as due to the limited supply of HBC586, so get it now!
