Considerato uno dei migliori locali birrai americani è sede di una delle più grandi collezioni di birra al mondo. Per celebrare il terzo anniversario della birreria viene chiesto agli Struise di realizzare una birra speciale da servire durante il tradizionale festival annuale della birra belga. Nasce così la Black Albert, un’Imperial Russian Stout dedicata ad Alberto II, sesto re del Belgio, prodotta unicamente con ingredienti belgi al 100%. Da questo momento la birra non uscirà più di produzione, diventerà la base per una serie di molteplici birre che verranno successivamente commercializzate dagli Struise ed è ancor oggi è uno dei fiori all'occhiello del birrificio. Naso eccelso, ricco e complesso con un tripudio di profumi: zucchero candito, cioccolato fondente, liquirizia, caramello, caffè, datteri, frutti rossi e scuri (uvetta, fichi, uva passa e prugna), malti tostati, vino passito, panettone, cioccolatini al rum, granelle di cacao, melassa, legno bruciato, bourbon, frutta secca (noci e nocciole), pane nero, spezie, vino di Porto e luppoli floreali. Corpo pieno, rotondo, denso, viscoso e quasi masticabile, con carbonatazione quasi piatta. Texture vellutata con mouthfeel morbida e cremosa: l’elevata gradazione alcolica è presente ma veramente ben integrata. Al palato, elegante e ben strutturata, è altrettanto intensa e complessa: ritroviamo tutte le fragranze avvertite al naso con la luppolatura un po’ più accentuata ed una lieve nota acidula. Lungo finale, relativamente secco, ricco di caffè, cioccolato amaro con permanenza di torrefatto e calore alcolico. Assolutamente da non perdere.
