Az Imperial Stout alkoholosabb, szárazabb, csokisabb a sima stouthoz képest, rendkívül gazdag, édes, telt malátajelleggel. A keserűség származhat pörkölt malátákból vagy komló hozzáadásából. Eredetileg az Orosz cári családnak szánták.
A Stout a porter szárazabb, sötétebb, testesebb erősebb leszármazottja. Színben nagyon hasonlóak, a stoutokban azonban sokkal több a karamellizált pörkölt maláta és a kávés ízvilág, valamint édeskésebbek is. A stout szó első ismert használata egy 1677-ben keltezett, az Egerton Manuscripts-ban talált dokumentumban, amely a sör erősségére utal. 1721-ben használták először a porter nevet egy pörkölt malátával készült sötétbarna sör leírására. A porterek hatalmas népszerűsége miatt a sörfőzők többféle erősségben készítették őket. Az erősebb, jellemzően 7 vagy 8 %-os alkoholtartalmú söröket "stout porter"-nek nevezték, így a stout és a porter története és fejlődése összefonódott.

Ett loakalt kafferosteri fick till den perfekta rostningen av Jamaican Blue Mountain kaffe, som fick komplettera den tunga ölen – och vips var Champion Ground född.
Och den här varianten har också fått en generös dos kokos till den redan smaktunga grundölen.

Description: Around the brewery we listen to a lot of reggae, drink a fair share of coffee, and are devoted to our barrel aging program. In 2015, we had a one off Imperial Stout aging in barrels for close to a year. These barrels had a rich chocolate/vanilla character, but were asking for a boost. Stauf’s Coffee Roasters in Columbus, Ohio nailed the perfect roast on some authentic Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee to compliment this barrel-aged Stout. The illustration on this label is of Charlie Ace’s Swing-A-Ling mobile record shack, which was notorious for broadcasting the “Champion Sound!” An additional conditioning on toasted coconut adds even more island vibes to this decadent coffee Stout.
Brewer’s Tasting Notes: Aroma: Toasted coconut , Baker’s chocolate, and figgy, fruity coffee. Palate: Chocolate covered coconut macaroon, chased with a shot of espresso.

De Imperial Stout is het sterkste in alcohol en body van de stout biersoort. Zwart van kleur, een typisch extreem moutige smaak/geur met een vol en zoet moutig karakter.. De bitterheid komt van de geroosterde mouten en hoptoevoegingen.Barrel Aged
Barrel aged betekend: Vatgerijpt. Dit houdt in dat het desbetreffende bier in gebruikte of ongebruikte houten vaten is gedaan om langere tijd te laten rijpen. De vaten zijn eerder meestal gebruikt om spirits in te laten rijpen. De geuren en smaken van de sterke drank en van het hout zullen in het bier trekken waardoor complexe smaakpaletten ontstaan. Voorbeelden van dranksoorten die veel gebruikt worden zijn: Whiskey, Bourbon, Congac, Tequila maar ook wijnen en port worden regelmatig gebruikt om bier op te laten rijpen. Soms worden ook ongebruikte vaten gebruikt om vooral de houttonen van het vat in het bier te krijgen. Eikenhout is hier een bekend voorbeeld van.Jackyo’s Brewery
