As Dundee’s first brewery for 50 years, 71 is reviving the lost art of brewing in Scotland’s fourth city. Crafting crisp lagers and seasonal beers inspired by traditional European classics and progressive new world flavours. Our goal is to make beers packed with flavour and character, both sessionable and familiar, funky and weird, but most importantly, with balance and consistency. We always strive to make beer you will want to drink again and again.
The home of 71 is a former ironworks towering out of the heart of an area known as ’Hell’s Half Acre’. Spread over 3 floors and 27,000 sq feet, the brewery building formed a major part of the mighty Blackness iron foundry. Once a powerhouse of production that churned out thick black smoke and world-class metalwork in equal measure. The iron and smoke have been replaced by gleaming steel vessels and clean steam power but the creative pulse the city was known for is still here, only now beer production is the order of the day.
